Virtual water

Fred Pearce:
"When the rivers run dry"
2007 Art Mann

Everyone is talking about dwindling energy resources; that a much more serious next paves water crisis has penetrated so far barely aware. Even those who are environmentally conscious at home saves water, white, rare, how much "virtual water" used it actually has food and clothing: 5,000 liters of water are needed to produce one kilo of rice, 11,000 liters for the beef of a hamburger, incredible 20,000 liters stuck in 1kg coffee. No wonder that the rivers in the world at a breathtaking pace empty while dramatically by over-regulation on the other hand, the flood risk increases. Long been known that constitute gigantomaniac irrigation and dam projects an enormous environmental and economic waste. But even more than you go to pump the underground water reservoirs empty. Resource wars over water to pave the effort because we can live without oil at a pinch, certainly not without water. Fred Pearce reports read like detective stories and also give a comprehensive overview of the water crisis and its impact.
